The Alimentari is owned by the Giannetti family for nearly one hundred years. It is located in Lucignano d' Asso in a medieval village – about 40 km south of Siena in the terrific landscape of the Crete Senesi. From 1000 feet you will have a fantastic view of the sorrounding villages Montalcino, Pienza and Cosona and the volcanic mountain Monte Amiata.
„ ....a real delight. In the pretty little dining room or outside underneath the pergola you can have plenty of plates with cold cuts and cheese
in the Bar/Alimentari Giannetti - more than you can eat."
Slow Food-Editore Val d`Orcia e dintorni 2001
In our Alimentari you find typical products out of the region, especially Salumi and Cheese, Ham, Olive oil and Wine. Beside selling products its possible to have a great lunch on our terrace with the beautifull view to the Monte Amiata. We serve big plates of a variety of Pecorino (Sheepcheese), Affitati (cold cuts), tuscan ham, wine, raw vegetables and special local olive oil. Once you have eaten eaten underneath the canopy of flowers and enjoyed the silence while eating the simple but delicious delights you will always come back.
„ ....an osteria covered by an gigantic hibiscus. Outside only a yellow sign with "Alimentari“ . Inside cool enough to wear a sweater. And then – what a surprise – capicollo, finnochiata, ham and all sorts of pecorino – how the good Lord has taught us to produce the good things in life in "secula seculorum"."
